TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan refused public’s use of the term ‘position auctioning’ to describe his attempts of openly selecting new members of the Jakarta administration through. He said that the word ‘auction’ has a negative connotation.
“Position auctioning seems as if someone pays [for a position in the administration]. The correct term is open promotion” said Anies Baswedan in City Hall on July 17.
Anies decided to hold an open selection process within the Jakarta administration that enables government employees (pns) across the country to participate.
The selection process itself forces Anies’ administration to adjust the positions of five Mayors and one Regent within the Jakarta administration. The governor’s move has been met with several criticisms from former Mayors that claimed to have been improperly removed and without any formal notice from Anies Baswedan.
Responding to several official complaints, the State Civilian Bureaucracy Commission (KASN) are investigating deeper into the Governor’s decision to do a mass-administration rotation. KASN suspects that Anies Baswedan had violated several policies.
