JAK Terror Group behind Recent Police Standoff in Yogya: Tito

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian stated that the three suspected terrorists that were executed by anti-terror special forces Densus 88 in Kaliurang, Yogyakarta several days ago were linked to terrorist group known as the Jamaah Ansharut Khilafah (JAK).
“The [suspects] in Yogyakarta were from the JAK group,” said General Tito Karnavian at the police mobile brigade (Brimob) headquarters on Monday, July 16.
Furthermore, Tito explained that the Indonesian Police are intensely hunting down the JAK group that is different to the known terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD). However, Tito explained that JAK members are considered to be loyalists for JAD and ISIS.
Police have taken full opportunity of the several bombing incidents that happened in Yogyakarta and Indramayu, West Java, to further investigate the involvement of a number of people that caught the attention of police’s radar.
“By them [conducting acts of terrorism] opens an opportunity for us [to study] and gave us a reason to make arrests and reveal their networks. We were initially limited to mere observation,” said General Tito Karnavian.
Furthermore, Tito Karnavian claims that police are in possession of the terrorist network and has ordered the Densus 88 to unt down each and every member of the JAK terrorist network.
