TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The waves splashed when I set foot in fine sands of Batu Kasah Beach, Ranai, Natuna regency on the afternoon. At 15:00 above, the water usually rises and the waves are also getting tighter.
The waves were retained by granite rocks along the coastal areas which located in South Bunguran district. The stone was of various sizes and shapes spread from the beach to the middle of the sea.
Batu Kasah Beach is also known as Cemaga Beach as it is located in Cemaga Village. Several adjacent villages have its own coastal areas as tourism site of its citizens. One of the best known is Batu Kasah Beach.
The streets in Ranai of Bunguran island is relatively quiet. Batu Kasah Beach can be reached within 45 minutes to 1 hour from the downtown. There is no sign or directions to the beach in Cemaga village. Even in the shore, there is only a unpaved path which in a rainy season, it will be full of puddles.
There is also no such facilities as in developed tourist destinations. There is a gazebo, but there are no food stalls or restaurants so you should bring your own food to enjoy a day all here.
People usually crowded the beach on weekends. On a typical day, it is really quiet so Batu Kasah is best for tourists to enjoy the sound of nature.
On holiday, tourists can cross to Pulau Kemudi which is visible from the beach. The boat trip is about 10-15 minutes with Rp20,000 per person for the round trip.
When I came in the afternoon, the sea water filled the beach but when I came back earlier, the water actually subsides even to the granite rocks that are in the middle of the ocean. The receding distance is about 10-15 meters from the edge. Thus tourists can also walk along the sea near granite rocks which is far from the beach. The tidal time is usually from morning until noon.
