Prabowo Subianto`s Possible Running Mates Mostly Politician

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party central board (DPP) Chairman Ahmad Riza Patria revealed that the list of Prabowo Subianto`s possible running mates for the upcoming election has been shortened to merely five individuals.

“We have narrowed down the names which are going to be decided together with members of the coalition party,” said Riza in Jakarta on Thursday, July 12.

According to Riza, the individuals are dominated by political party figures where two of them are Ahmad Heryawan and Salim Segaf Al-Jufri from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

Other figures considered worthy to accompany Prabowo are National Mandate Party (PAN) Chairman Zulkifli Hasan and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono from the Democratic Party. Riza argues that it would bring the Democratic Party closer to the opposition coalition party.

Another public figure Riza revealed is the current Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a non-partisan representative. “Other names that have emerged in discussions are Gatot Nurmantyo, Mahfud MD, and Chairul Tanjung. I think it has narrowed down to Anies,” said Riza.

He further revealed that Gerindra Party will determine Prabowo Subianto’s running mate in the near future through an open discussion with coalition parties that have pledged support for Prabowo.
