TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communications and Informatics Minister Rudiantara today, July 4, asserted Tik Tok application was shut down temporarily due to its uneducated contents.

The minister explained Tik Tok did not provide a content-filter system considering Indonesia banned several contents such as pornography. Aside from the system, Rudiantara said Tik Tok was not good for the education of Indonesian youth generation.

“The problem is not on the platform but how it educates our children. It [the education] does not only come from one sector, but it starts from the house, school, and digital literacy,” he said.

The users of Tik Tok were reportedly underage children. Rudiantara mentioned Indonesia is the fourth largest users of the video sharing platform, hence he demanded the developer filter its contents.

However, as of press time, the suggestion delivered by Minister Rudiantara was not answered yet by Tik Tok. Until now, Rudiantara was still determined to close the access to the application.
