TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani maintained that the government will continue to correspond with the values of Pancasila (five state ideology) in Freeport Indonesia`s 51 percent divestment.

“We will continue to base our negotiation under the country’s Constitution UUD and the values mentioned in the Pancasila,” said Sri Mulyani at the Le Meridien Hotel in Jakarta today, July 3.

The Pancasila market economics became a topic of discussion in the seminar that was held at The Habibie Center. Minister Sri Mulyani argues that the topic is truly relevant in facing the current economic development.

“As an ideology and philosophy, we must understand the values in each discussion, so that it can continue to be an actual and relevant value that can guide us through our lives,” said Sri Mulyani.

The Pancasila market economics consists of two crucial elements; the market mechanism and Pancasila. The Finance Minister further insisted that this ideology should be practiced by everyone in the creation of policies and designing the instruments of the market mechanism.

Previously, State-Owned Enterprise Minister Rini Soemarno revealed that she had discussed the values of Freeport Indonesia’s share acquisition with Freeport McMoran’s Chief Executive Richard Adkerson.

“The final value in the latest negotiation was at USD3 billion up to USD4 billion, it is still being finalized,” said Minister Rini. She explained that the Freeport divestment will be finalized as soon as possible and is currently entering discussions related to environmental issues and finance.
