TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mount Agung in Bali erupted again this morning and spewed a two kilometer-high ash column at 09:28 central Indonesia time (WITA) as reported by the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) today. Its thick ash cloud could be seen traveling further to the western region that has been deemed on level 3 status or Alert.
The ESDM Ministry released a recommendation for people in the vicinity of Mount Agung to avoid conducting any activities such as mountain hiking within the 4 kilometer radius of Mount Agung’s crater, which the ministry has acknowledged as a potentially dangerous zone.

The potentially danger zone status is continuously dynamic and is constantly evaluated and can change anytime soon which depends on the mountain’s most recent condition.
The Ministry’s second recommendation is for residents that live and conduct activities near the lakes that disembogue at Mount Agung to avoid any secondary danger threats such as volcanic mudflow that can potentially take with it the materials prior to the eruption.
As previously reported, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the first Mount Agung eruption happened on Monday night at 21:04 WITA which erupted a 2,000 meter-high volcanic eruption.
