TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The menu is mostly chosen for breakfast is called mi balap (racing noodles), supposedly because it is made quickly. It can be found in various locations in Medan, North Sumatra. One of the most popular is the stall on Jalan Wahidin, an intersection of Jalan Gajah.

The large cauldron of noodle vendors here is never empty, always making processed of fried tiauw noodles, fried vermicelli, yellow fried noodles, or a mixture of both. For its spice flavor, the use of chili and garlic are many.

The delicious aroma is constantly spreading from the frying pan with the heated stove using the firewood. The choice of menu is ranging from without or with eggs, sea fish, and meatballs. Price per serving in the range of Rp10,000, depending on the selected items. One of the tempting tastes is the fried seafood noodle.

The customers at the stall of mi balap on Jalan Wahidin usually queue up long enough. But do not worry because it is made quickly. Processed leaf wrapped in a combination of sauce that makes it feel more stable. Eat it using chopsticks.

In addition to Jalan Wahidin, mi balap can be found on Jalan Darat, Jalan Denai, Jalan Gunung Krakatau, Jalan Karya, Jalan Mandala, and in several other locations.

The average trader sells from the morning due to the breakfast menu. Some sell until the evening. For the stall on Jalan Wahidin, it opens starting at 07:00 am, but often sold out at daylight. So it is better to come in the morning.
