TEMPO.CO, Tabanan- Homepod is the homestay shaped like an egg house and constructed with the natural material in the shore of Lake Ulun Danu, Tabanan, Bali. This eco-friendly homestay was designed and funded by Tourism Ministry as the pilot project.

“The construction of this homestay for one unit costs Rp150 million including genset. It is not expensive for nomadic tourist,” said Tourism Ministry’s Marketing Division deputy head I I Gde Pitana in a conference press on Sunday, June 24.

Homepad was claimed as eco-friendly homestay as it built with bamboo and less electrical equipment installed. Tourists could enjoy the real nature while seeing the beautiful landscape of Ulun Danu Lake and horizons of stars on the night.

Homepod also called as village houses considering the shape similar to community residences. Tabanan Regent Ni Putu Eka Wiryastuti stated homepod could be a source of inspirations for businessmen on the tourism sector. He considered the amenity of its shape suited the character of tourism destinations in Tabanan, Bali.

Tourism Ministry had earlier launched similar homepod in Toba Lake, North Sumatra. The minister planned to develop this semi-permanent homestay in several regions across Indonesia.

“We will later develop nomadic tourism in several regions and provide facilities such as caravan, glamping (glamorous camping), and homepod or even seaplane," he said days ago, adding that he would give rewards for tourism businessmen developing nomadic tourism.
