TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Katulampa Dam management head Andi Sudirman stated the constant pouring rain since Sunday afternoon caused the water level at the Katulampa Dam in Bogor increased to 100 from 20 centimeters at 19:40 local times.
“Katulampa is on high alert level 4,” Andi told Tempo on Sunday, June 24.
Earlier, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning on potential rain with medium to heavy intensity at 16:20 in several regions including Jati Uwung, Pasarkemis, Cikupa, Cijeruk, Curug, Pondok Aren, Ciputat, Serpong, and Pesanggrahan.
The rain was also predicted to fall in Kedunghalang, North Bogor, Semplak, Central Bogor, East Bogor, South Bogor, Ciawi, Cijeruk, Ciomas, Dramaga, West Bogor, Tanah Sareal, Ciampea, Cibungbulang and surrounding areas.
Andi stated he had coordinated with security posts and volunteers in light of the potential rise of water level in Ciliwung river flowing to Depok from Bogor. “We are on standby,” he said.
On Saturday, June 23, Katulampa Dam was set on high alert level 3 considering the water level soar to 150 centimeters. According to Andi, the increase was monitored since 18:00 local times at 140 centimeters after heavy rains falling in Puncak area.
After four-hour heavy rain, the water level in Katulampa Dam strongly increased to 140 from 40 centimeters at 14:00 local times. “Even five minutes later, the water level again rises to 150 centimeters thus high alert status level 3 issued,” Andi stated.
