TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - One of the founders of the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party or PKPI Tatto Sugiarto Pradjamanggala has passed away on Friday evening, June 22.
He died at the age of 80 at Mayapada Hospital, South Jakarta due to prostate cancer.
“It’s true,” said PKPI politician Teddy Gusnaidi when confirmed on Sunday, June 24.
Tatto established PKPI along with several figures, Try Sutrisno, Edy Sudrajat, Hayono Isman on January 15, 1999. At that time, the party was still called as the Justice and Unity Party and renamed as PKPI in September 2002. In addition, Tatto is also known as the founder of Siliwangi Youth Force and members of the Golkar Party 1972-1992.
Chairman of PKPI Diaz Faisal Malik Hendropriyono said Tatto is a great politician in his era. According to him, Tatto is also a true nationalist and a respected figure in West Java.
"Mr. Tatto is a prominent political figure in his day and a nationalist who cares for NKRI," he said in a written statement.
Diaz said his party expressed his condolences on the death of Tatto. Tatto was buried in the family cemetery of Manggala Giri Lembang area, Bandung, West Java on Saturday, June 23.
"May the charity of his worship be received by His side," he said.
