Man Taken to Police for Allegedly Insulting Prophet Muhammad

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A man named Maswan Kemit Jaya was taken to the South Jakarta Police Station on Thursday, June 21, for allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad through his social media account.
Kebayoran Lama district chief Sayid Ali said locals seized Maswan from his house on Peninggaran Timur 1, North Kebayoran Lama on Thursday night.

“The residents have been looking for him since a few days ago because Maswan allegedly insulted the Prophet Muhammad,” said Ali on Friday, June 22.
Ali added the police had also been searching for Maswan for two days and kept an eye on his house. However, Ali said, Maswan was not at home.
“The residents are looking for him, so when he appeared they finally caught him,” Ali said.
Ali said Maswan's whereabouts was easily traced as the latter used his real name and address on his Facebook account.
