Eid`s Return Traffic; Three Points Cause Density in Cikampek Toll

TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - The return flow of Eid`s homecoming has occurred since late Sunday, June 17. Lots of vehicles from Cikopo-Palimanan toll started to enter Jakarta-Cikampek toll hence the police implemented the contraflow policy up to 21 kilometers to alleviate the congestion.
State-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga of Jakarta-Cikampek spokesperson Irwansyah stated that KM 61, 52, and 42 obstructed the traffic because many vehicles lined up to enter the rest areas.
“The queue to rest areas caused traffic density,” said Irwansyah, on Monday, June 18.
Aside from those points, he added, traffic density occurred at KM 66 as it was the meeting point of Cipularang toll from Bandung and Cipali toll from Central Java. There was also road narrowing due to Jakarta-Cikampek 2 elevated project that caused congestion at KM 46.
“Another road narrowing was at KM 29, but the road had been expanded,” Irwansyah explained.
Irwansyah went on to say that number of efforts had been done to reduce the return traffic of 2018 Eid at Cikampek toll including rest area management and contraflow policy beginning on Sunday at 19:00 until early Monday at 02:30 from KM 65 to KM 41.
