TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Many train passengers expressed their dissatisfaction towards the service of state-owned railway company KAI during the return flow of 2018 Eid`s homecoming season.
“We are discontented with the service provided by KAI,” said Yayah, an economic train passenger of Rangkasbitung-Merak at Lebak, Banten, Sunday, June 17.
On Sunday at 18:30 local times, passengers at Merak station heading to Rangkasbitung could not hop into the train since it was already overcrowded. The officers strived to load the passengers, even those holding infants and children forced to stand near the toilet and some almost fainted.
Yayah assessed KAI should add more trains for Rangkasbitung-Merak route due to the overload of passengers. “We hope the company has commitments in catering the public,” he said.
Another passenger named Herman recalled he had to stand on the train from Merak Station as it was the last train that departed at 17:30 local times.
The overcrowded passenger on the train was susceptible to accidents considering it accommodated 800-900 passengers while its capacity was 250 passengers per car.
“We demanded KAI provide more trains should there will be an increased number of passengers, so we will be secured and comfortable,” Herman added.
