TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Head Moeldoko predicted the return traffic will be more congested compared to 2018 Eid`s homecoming flow considering the increased number of travelers and shorter period of the return flow.
“Thus, travelers will likely use same roads at the same time,” said Moeldoko in a written statement, Sunday, June 17.
Moeldoko estimated the return flow will reach its peak on June 18-19. Vehicles will load up three main routes namely Java's Northern Coastal Road (Pantura), Cipali toll, and Purbaleunyi toll and meet in Cikampek-Jakarta toll then connects to Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) toll and Jagorawi toll.
The former commander of Indonesian Military (TNI) called on travelers to well adjust the return trip to anticipate traffic congestion. He suggested travelers should avoid the estimated peak period.
Moeldoko said KSP will keep informing potential congestions to the public which most of them caused by traffic accidents and lack of management in rest areas.
Furthermore, to anticipate and prevent possible breakdown, he had coordinated with stakeholders including National Police, Public Works and Housing Ministry, and Transportation Ministry.
“We will deploy again security personnel and officers on the roads particularly at points that susceptible to be congested,” said Moeldoko regarding the return traffic of 2018 Eid’s homecoming season.
