TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi expressed her compliments toward the government’s and diplomats' effort, which resulted in the removal of Indonesian airlines from the European Union Air Safety List.
"This is the result of the government's and our diplomats' work. Little by little, our problems are being solved," Retno said at his residence on Friday, June 15, 2018.
On Thursday, June 14, 2018, the European Commission removed all Indonesian registered airlines from the European Union Air Safety List, which contains the name of airlines considered to have failed to meet international aviation safety standards. The European Commission also published a new list that restricts a number of airlines from operating within the European Union airspace.
The new list exempted all Indonesian airlines from flight restrictions within the European Union airspace following recent improvements in aviation safety aspects.
"The EU Air Safety List is one of our main instruments to continuously offer the highest level of air safety to Europeans," said Violeta Bulc, the European Union Commissioner on Transportation in a press release dated June 14, 2018.
