Terror Suspects in Blitar Planned Attacks on Police Stations

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Java Police PR chief Sr. Comr. Frans Barung Mangera said that the five terror suspects arrested in Blitar were planning to attack the city's vital institutions.  The Densus 88 anti-terror squad captured the suspects on Wednesday night, June 13, 2018.

"They were planning attacks on police stations and a number of banks in Blitar," Frans said in a written statement on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

The Densus 88 arrested three suspects in Talun district, one in Gandusari district, and another in Wlingi District, Blitar Regency last night.

One of the men arrested is NH, a doctor who rents a house that belongs to a fertilizer businessman. "They started renting the house about three years ago. That family is very private," said Mislan, the neighborhood chief of Talun district.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Police's Head of Information Bureau Brig. Gen. Mohammad Iqbal didn’t say much about the arrest in Blitar.

"We are still reviewing the reports," Iqbal said in Jakarta.
