TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno admitted he got many parcels from his businessmen colleagues for 2018 Eid al-Fitr.
“It’s uncountable, a lot,” he said today, June 12, in Senayan, Central Jakarta.
As a businessman, Sandiaga Uno admitted his colleagues usually delivered him hampers for Eid. “Now that I am a public servant, they did not know that I am prohibited to receive parcels,” he said while laughing.
Sandiaga stated he has coordinated with Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the matter. The parcels with short expiration period have sent to mosques. “While the long expiration period parcels will be sent to orphans and needy or other suggestions from KPK,” he explained.
Referring to Article 4 (8) of Government Regulation No. 53/ 2010 on Civil Servant (PNS) Discipline, the civil servant is prohibited to receive gifts or any present from anyone related to his position or job.
KPK also reminded state officials to refuse gifts, parcels, and other facilities from anyone during Eid holiday especially things that indicated as gratifications.
Based on Law No. 20/2001 amendment to Law No. 31/1999 on corruption eradication, the presents can be categorized as gratification and state officials can avoid the sanction should they report it to the anti-graft body.
As a public official, Sandiaga Uno had reported many times the gifts or parcels he received. He was ranked fifth of the top ten officials that reported gratification in 2015-2018. As per March 2018, KPK recorded the deputy governor reported 21 issues indicated gratification.
