TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Pejagan-Pemalang toll road section was officially opened for the 2018 Eid al-Fitr homecoming season. This route is a connecting route from the Kertasari toll gate.
Based on Tempo’s field observation, vehicles have packed the Kertasari toll gate from the direction of Brebes headed to Pemalang and has caused a 1.5 kilometer-long traffic congestion that mostly consists of vehicles with Jakarta license plates.
Additional toll booths have been opened and is each guarded by policemen that have been mobilized specifically to regulate traffic throughout the homecoming season. “There are 12 toll booths that have been opened,” said the policeman who was guarding one of the toll-booth on June 10.
The Pejagan-Pemalang toll road is a 37 kilometer-long toll road that was opened 10 days prior to the Eid al-Fitr celebration under the “functional” status, which means that it has not been fully constructed and road users can travel through free of charge.
The roads there are already mostly made of asphalt but some parts are concrete roads. There are two type B rest areas equipped with a musholla (prayer rooms) and restrooms but no gas stations throughout the Pejagan-Pemalang toll road at KM 275-200 and KM 287-400.
According to Herwidiakto, the President Director of the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll road developer Waskita Toll Road, the company predicts that this toll road section will be completely built five days before Eid al-Fitr.
