TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi officially introduced the 2018 integrated Eid al-Fitr transportation post which acts as a monitoring spot for the Ramadan mass-exodus that is predicted to commence on Friday, June 8.
“There will be a mass displacement of people, motorcycle users is predicted to increase by 30 percent, this must be anticipated,” said Minister Budi Karya today.
The post is located at the seventh floor of the Transportation Ministry’s headquarters located in the Nanggala Gedung Cipta and is equipped with the capabilities to thoroughly monitor the traffic of the mass-exodus nation-wide in real time.
Several institutions have been posted in this post such as state-owned insurance company Jasa Raharja and the national search and rescue agency (Basarnas). This will enable the post to be the center point on handling obstacles that will arise during the mass-exodus season.
Previously reported, Transportation Minister Budi Karya predicted that the mass-exodus would shift from the earlier prediction of June 13-June 14 to what is now believed to start from June 8-June 9.
