TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned ship operator Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) recorded 24,512 tickets booking by State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) during the 2018 Eid al-Fitr transport period. The amount is equivalent to 11.88 percent of the total target of homecoming participants with the SOEs this year, which is as many as 206,300 homecomers.
Pelni Public Relations and CSR Manager Akhmad Sujadi said that the ship tickets this year are booked by 23 state-owned enterprises; much more than last year, that was only three state-owned companies. The participation of SOEs this year is greater because of the effort to serve the homecomers from outside Java.
"This year is more massive, to all over Indonesia, the biggest concentration (of homecomers) is from central (part of) Indonesia at 43 percent," said Sujadi in Jakarta, Tuesday night, June 5.
Pelni ship route in the Indonesia's central part includes Bontang, Balikpapan, Makassar, Bima, and Kupang. Meanwhile, in the western part of Indonesia includes Belawan, Batam, Jakarta, Sampit, and Semarang, that holds a 39 percent share of market. The rest of the homecomers will come from the eastern part of Indonesia which includes Surabaya, Ambon, Baubau, Manokwari, and Jayapura.
Sujadi revealed that Pupuk Indonesia became the state-owned company who purchased most of Pelni tickets for 3,900 tickets. Followed by Pertamina with 3,878 tickets, Semen Indonesia (3,500), Pelindo I (2,000 tickets), and Pelindo III (1,700 tickets).
According to Sujadi, Pelni does not give discounts to the SOEs who buy the tickets since the prices are already subsidized from public service obligation funds (PSO) of Transport Ministry.
