TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) deputy chairman Fadli Zon said that his party will not be threatened by maneuvers made by former Indonesian Military Commander Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo ahead of 2019 Presidential Election.
“Gerindra has no problem [with Gatot],” said Fadli Zon today at the Senayan Parliament Complex in Jakarta.

According to Fadli, everyone has the right participate in an election. “But the most important is the ticket [to the election],” he added.
The maneuvers made by the army chief of staff during the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono were obvious when he visited Islamic boarding schools and met with political leaders during Ramadan.
Gatot recently met Democratic Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). A photograph showing an image of him kissing SBY’s hand went viral on social media. Gatot is among the most popular candidates for the upcoming presidential election.

Democratic Party deputy chairman Syarifuddin Hasan said Gatot Nurmantyo had expressed his readiness to run in the election and that his name has been shortlisted as a presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Gerindra is still in communications with other parties to form a coalition prior to 2019 presidential election.
