Again, Killer Whales Spotted in Gorontalo Waters for Four Times

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The killer whale or orca (Orcinus orca) can be seen roaming, at least four times, in the water of Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo, from January until May. A fisherman from Botubarani, Arfan Ali, said he saw orca whales swimming by the water of Botubarani Village.
"I was navigating two foreign tourists and a guide when three orca whales passed by on March 26 near the Whale Shark site," Arfan said Thursday, May 31.
He said that on May 22, another three orca whales showed up; two in the bigger size and one in around three-meter tall.

An orca whale researcher Verrianto Madjowa explained the appearance of the sea mammal at the waters of Gorontalo occurred in February, March, and May. "At Botubarani, the killer whale swam through the seashore, about 350-meter away from the highest tide. On May 22, three killer whales were swimming in Botubarani," he said.
The killer whale, known as “paupausu” in the local language, can also be seen on March 26. Three killer whales were spotted at Botubarani and Kurenai. "Meanwhile on February 7, the orca occurred in Botubarani and on February 23, it was swimming in Lopo-Kayubulan, Batudaa Beach," said the Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Association of Marine Scholars’ Central Executive Board (DPP ISKINDO).
