TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Indra Jafar said that the source of the explosion heard during Aman Abdurrahman`s terrorism trial originated from an empty drum.

"[It was] an empty drum previously contained with cast-iron chemical substance that should be away from the fire. When the plumber wanted to cut it using the weld, that was when the explosion occurred," said Indra via text message, Friday, May 25.

Indra said now the situation returns to normal and there was no victim.

The explosive sound from outside the courtroom in the South Jakarta District Court made the visitors panicked and some of the stood up from their chairs.

Aman Abdurrahman alias Oman Rochman alias Abu Sulaiman is the leader of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), an alliance organization of radical organization. He is accused as the mastermind of the attacks namely Sarinah bomb, Samarinda church bomb, and the police stabbing in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

On Friday, May 18, the prosecutor demanded Aman Abdurrahman with the death penalty.

The Prosecutor's demand refers to the two charges namely violating Article 14 in conjunction with (6) and (15) in conjunction with (7) of Law No. 15 of 2003 on the Terrorism Eradication with the sentence of a death penalty or life imprisonment.

Based on investigations and facts mentioned in the trial, Aman was never directly involved in the five actions. However, the terror order can still be given even though he is behind the bars with maximum security with Nusakambangan Prison standard, Central Java.

As a result of the noise in the courtroom, the judge briefly suspended the plea reading agenda by Aman Abdurrahman and his lawyer team on Friday morning.

Brimob personnel in the courtroom immediately stood around Aman who sat in the defendant's chair.
