TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Air Transportation Director General Agus Santoso reminded all stakeholders or airlines and the aviation industry to raise alert following the eruption of Mount Merapi today, May 24.

AP1 Adisutjipto Airport's communication and legal section head Liza Anindya Rahmadiani also ensured that the airport is still operating as normal.
"We continue to coordinate with airlines and AirNav Indonesia to monitor the situation," Liza said.
According to AirNav Indonesia, at 03:56 this morning, Mount Merapi's status was Red Alert. The volcano's volcanic ash spews up to flight level 300 from the top of its crater.
