TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The private American aerospace company SpaceX CEO Elon Musk recently posted a spacecraft photo on his Twitter and Instagram account. As Daily Mail on May 21, 2018, reported that the plane was planned to bring humans to Mars.
The photo shows a capsule that reads Dragon and its truck used to store additional cargo. The spacecraft SpaceX’s Crew Dragon has undergone an electromagnetic interference test.
The aircraft is placed in a sound-absorbing Anechoic room to ensure the good condition of its electrical systems. Anechoic Room is a specially designed room which absorbs the reflection of sound or electromagnetic waves.
The place is known as the quietest place on Earth, similar to the environment in space which is part of the test. Elon Musk wrote, “SpaceX Crew Dragon ship in the anechoic chamber for EMI testing before being sent to @NASA Plum Brook vacuum chamber" along with the photo.
The facility at Plum Brook Station is the largest anechoic room in the world and that a place for the spacecraft undergoing resistance tests.
The capsule size is about 20 feet (6 meters) with a diameter of 12 feet (3.6 meters) and could carry 7 astronauts. Crew Dragon has a sophisticated emergency rescue system that has been tested earlier so that the astronaut can be quickly taken to a safe place if something goes wrong.
The aircraft also has an Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) that provide a convenient and secure place for crew members. Crew Dragon also provides real-time information about the spacecraft's capabilities.
SpaceX expected it would send its first mission to Mars by 2022, while the second mission with its cargo and crew is scheduled in 2024. "The ships from this initial mission will be our first base in Mars. We can build a developed city and independent civilization on Mars," as noted on the SpaceX website.
