TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police will rearrange the traffic engineering on Jalan Mampang Prapatan before the road closure test at the Mampang Intersection. Traffic Director of Jakarta Police, Sr. Comr. Yusuf, does not want the plan of the closing of the three intersections test trial to fail again.

“We will conduct further review,” said Yusuf in his office, South Jakarta, Wednesday, May 23.

The first test had failed and had to be temporarily canceled. The closing of these three intersections officially began on May 18, at 10:00 pm.

At that time, the Deputy Head of Jakarta Transportation Department Sigit Wijatmoko said the closure related to the construction of Antasari interchanges.

In just two days, the residents of Mampang and surrounding areas protested the implementation of the trial because it was considered to worsen the traffic congestion. They forcibly demolished the road separator at the three intersections on May 20.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno assessed the incident happened because of lack of socialization before the closure. Therefore, he ensures, in future trials, the socialization should take precedence.

Yusuf agreed with Sandiaga. According to him, the police have conducted an evaluation but the socialization of the and the socialization of the Mampang Intersection closure was very minimal. Even some community groups were not involved before the closure.

On Tuesday, Jakarta Administration confirmed that the road closing test trial at Mampang Intersection will still be implemented. Responding to that, Yusuf also ensures the socialization will broadly be implemented so the public will be aware.
