TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The ride-hailing platform Grab Indonesia introduced new features namely SOS and Know Your Driver-Partners (KYP) which could be accessed with a single touch. The features aimed to maintain the safety of its customers.

Since the beginning, Grab has established various program to tighten the security for its passengers and driver partners including the training of safe driving and the machine learning, a system to study user’s behavior as to improve the experience of customers and drivers.

The program proved to decrease the accident rate at 0,11 percent per 100,000 active users in 2017 from previously at 0.56 percent in 2015. The value was lower than the national number of 16.64 percent. In addition, for the minor traffic accident, it was recorded at 2.29 percent of 1 million trips. That made Grab as the safest transportation means in Indonesia.

“The passenger’s safety is our main priority. We are so glad to announce that SOS and other security checks will be added [on the app],” said Grab Indonesia Managing Director Ridzki Kramadibrata.

Furthermore, Grab is the only one company in Indonesia that applied KYP system for its driver partners of GrabCar. Through the new feature, Grab could check all documents owned by the driver such as (ID card, driving license (SIM), vehicle registration (STNK), and police record (SKCK).
