TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kediri Provincial Government set Jl. Hayam Wuruk as a special culinary center during the fasting month of Ramadan. The 200-meter street as one of the city’s main road was now a place for traders selling takjil, a light snack for breaking the fast.
Jl. Hayam Wuruk has been crowded at 15:00 local times. Hundreds of sellers offer a variety of foods such as traditional snack, cakes, side dishes, soup, kolak (a sweet soup common for breaking fast), until fisheries product.
The market usually opens earlier at 14:00 pm. Regional Transportation Agency and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) have been sterilized the street in advance. Approaching the fast-breaking time, more visitors flock to the place.
Many students are also seen selling takjil such as iced fruit cocktail dessert and kolak. “The revenue is quite substantial even though we must share it with our friends,” said Eni, a student of a private university in Kediri yesterday.
In addition to providing the place as a culinary center during Ramadan, Kediri administration also monitored the food quality. “We conduct a regular inspection,” said the city’s Public Relation head Apip Permana.
