TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated Monday the Minangkabau International Airport Train (BIM) dubbed the Minangkabau Ekspres at the airport’s train station in Padang, West Sumatera.
“There will be more mass transports, such as this airport train, to alleviate congestion in cities,” Jokowi said.
The Minangkabau Ekspres is the country’s third airport train besides Kualanamu Airport's in Medan and the one at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Banten.

The government is presently working on another airport train project in Solo, Central Java and a light rapid transit (LRT) project for the Asian Games in Palembang, South Sumatera.
“Airport trains, MRTs, LRTs and busway are among the mass transports that we will keep on developing,” Jokowi said.
