TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Pelindo III) provides 14,009 free homecoming tickets by sea transportation this year. The registration opens until June 12.
Pelindo III President Director Ari Ashkara said the quota of free tickets is twice as much as last year at 6,000 tickets. He said a program is a form of concern from the country in providing comfort and ease for homecoming holiday.
"Last year, the people enthusiasm using sea ships is quite high. The occupancy rate reached almost 100 percent last year," he noted in a press release, Saturday, May 19.
In this year's free homecoming program, Pelindo III cooperated with state-owned sea transportation company PT Pelni and state-owned bus company Perum Damri. Ari detailed, as many as 1,700 tickets are prepared for home-comers from Kumai or Sampit Port to Semarang and Surabaya. Meanwhile, 12,300 tickets are distributed to passengers from Tanjung Perak and Tanjung Emas Port to several cities in East and Central Java.
"We provide 260 trips via bus, 150 trips departed from Tanjung Perak Port and 110 trips from Tanjung Emas Port," said Corporate Secretary of Pelindo III Faruq Hidayat.
Along with Perum Damri, Pelindo III deployed 15 buses in Tanjung Perak Port to five cities destination namely Jember, Madiun, Trenggalek, Cepu, and Blitar. While 10 buses in Tanjung Emas Port will depart to 7 final destinations, Yogyakarta, Rembang, Wonosobo, Purworejo, Solo, Purwodadi, and Tegal.
As of Thursday, May 17, Pelindo III has received 1,540 and 1,514 free homecoming registrants using sea and land transportation respectively. Thus, a lot of quota of homecoming program is still available.
