The key ideologue for Islamic State militants in Indonesia has gone on trial for ordering a 2016 suicide bombing and gun attack in Jakarta that killed eight people including the four attackers. AP

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police will deploy around 182 personnel to secure the trial of terrorism case with the defendant Aman Abdurrahman at the South Jakarta District Court today, May 18. The trial is scheduled to read the indictment from the public prosecutor (JPU) against Aman.

“Some 152 police officers and 30 armies (TNI) will be posted,” said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Comr. Indra Jafar in a written statement on Thursday, May 17. “The total personnel reaches 182 people," he said.

The indictment against Aman was initially to be read out in court on last Friday, May 11. But the trial was postponed for two reasons; the prosecutor had not completed the suit and the prosecutor could not present the defendant.

Aman Abdurrahman is mentioned as an ISIS figure in Indonesia as well as the leader of Jemaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD). The perpetrators of Surabaya bombings, last Sunday, are said to be linked to JAD. During the Mako Brimob riot, the police used Aman’s voice recording to reduce the actions of the prisoners.
