TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airliner Garuda Indonesia Group and private airline Sriwijaya Group have signed an agreement on the codeshare partnership in a bid to enhance the accessibility and connectivity of flight routes.
Garuda Indonesia President Director Pahala N. Mansury stated the potential business of codeshare could expand the market target and boost the revenue. It is estimated the shares of both companies reaches 52 percent for domestic routes.
“With this partnership, both airliners can provide more choices of flight route for the customers,” said Pahala on Wednesday, May 16.

Garuda Indonesia and Sriwijaya have the same 87 flight routes and 104 different routes. The scheme of the partnership will be implemented in Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) and Codeshare Agreement and that share the flight routes of Garuda Indonesia, Citilink Indonesia, Sriwijaya Air, and NAM Air.
In detail, the partnership will allow one flight route to be operated by Garuda and marketed by Sriwijaya and vice versa. It is also able to combine the same flight route of both airliners. For example in a flight route of Jakarta-Sampit via Semarang, Garuda will operate Jakarta-Semarang and Sriwijaya will operate Semarang-Sampit.
Furthermore, Garuda Indonesia or Citilink could place the flight number to the partner Sriwijaya or NAM Air, and vice versa.
