TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A terror strike was launched at the Riau Police Headquarters this morning, May 16. A car broke into the gate of the vicinity with four men inside.

One man with his face covered then came out of the car wielding a sword.  The police managed to take down two attackers.

The attack occurred when the Riau Police were preparing to expose the confiscation of 29 kilogram methamphetamine, with journalists present at the headquarters.

"We heard gunshots," said Madi, a stringer from MNC TV. Not long after, everything turned into chaos, Madi said. "There were shouts of 'terror, terror'."

Madi and a TV One contributor Rian Rahman panicked ran away through the gate next to Gajah Mada Street.

Madi and Rian were hit by the Toyota Avanza that the four men rode in as they tried to escape from the Police Headquarters.

"Rian has been rushed to the hospital," Madi said.

According to reports, situations are now under control at the of Gajah Mada Road and Sudirman Street.
