TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To face the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the era when technology is a fundamental aspect in changing the way of living, the young generation especially students are the front key to develop artificial intelligence (AI).
The phenomenon drove Tarumanegara University, Jakarta to held the 2018 Indonesian Robots Contests (KRI) Regional II on Saturday, May 12.
According to Tarumanegara University Rector Agustinus Purna Irawan, the robotic technology is in accordance with the recent needs of industry. The role of technology, he said, could not be avoided. “The preparation to face this era should be started in a university,” Agustinus noted in a press release received by Tempo on Tuesday, May 15.
Attending the contest were Director General of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Intan Ahmad who considered robotics technology is further relevant to the development of the fourth Industrial Revolution. “Indonesian students have a potential to master and develop technology as well as to compete in international,” said Intan.
The robots contest or KRI was the second held in Tarumanegara University since 2014. As many as 95 teams from 44 universities from Java island, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan joined the contest. Later, the champion of 2018 KRI Regional II will have a match in next July to win a ticket to a global robotics contest.
The competition was divided into five division namely fire extinguisher robots, dance art robots, humanoid football robots, wheeled football robots, and ball-throwing robots.
The contest is part of Industrial Revolution 4.0 since it marked by the innovation of auto-pilot vehicle, smart robots, and neurotechnology development in which human could optimize the artificial intelligence technology.
