TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno claimed that the odd-even traffic policy expansion managed to shorten the travel time from Athlete Dorm to Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium into 27 minutes for the Asian Games 2018.

"The final result of the expansion of the Odd-Even traffic policy simulation shows [that travel time from Athlete Dorm to GBK] can now be reached in 27 minutes on the special red-tracked route for Asian Games," said Sandiaga at the City Hall, Friday, May 11.

Sandiaga claimed that other traffic engineering schemes were not yet included in the trial. "We do not use other kinds of traffic engineering yet, the progress is very good," he said.

Previously, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) viewed that the issues of security, transportation, and venues were still the three main concerns in preparation for the Asian Games 2018. "We are satisfied (with the progress), but there is still another problem we are concerned: security, transportation, and the venues," said OCA Chairman Coordination Committee Tsunekazu Takeda at the Kempinski hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, May 8.

Regarding the implementation of Odd-Even traffic policy, Takeda said that Indonesia should learn from Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo has now successfully implemented a system to reduce congestion in order to welcome the Olympics 2020. He hopes that Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC) can learn more about the system from Tokyo.
