TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno expressed his will to relocate the street vendors (PKL) in Jl. Jatibaru Raya, Tanah Abang, to the disputed land owned by state-owned railway PT KAI in Jl. Jembatan Tinggi which is known as dismantling area or bongkaran.
Sandiaga stated the city administration is still waiting for the permit regarding the plan. “It’s better for us to use the area,” said Sandiaga Uno in the City Hall, Tuesday, May 8.
The suggestion was presented by Jakarta officials to Jakarta Ombudsman in the meeting regarding the findings of Ombudsman that released on March 26. The findings noted maladministrations conducted by the city officials.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Ombudsman Head Dominikus Dalu assessed Jakarta government has not found a solution yet on the issue. “Yes, it’s like that they [Jakarta officials] did not have a solution,” he said to Tempo on Tuesday, May 8.
Sandiaga Uno went on to say that he still waits for the permit from PT KAI and the police to use the dismantling area. In addition, several options of places to relocate the street vendors are being prepared by Jakarta Small and Medium Enterprises Agency and Trade Agency.
