PUPR Ministry: 92% National Main Roads Safe for Eid Homecoming

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director General of Road Office Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Arie Setiadi Moerwanto ensure 92 percent of the national main roads are in good condition and safe for the travelers to pass before Eid Day. He said there were no more roads with holes.
"Only the Pantura (North Coast) road that we are worried about because heavy trucks pass it through," he said when contacted by Tempo on Sunday, May 6.
Arie said, if there are roads that are not good, Road Office will directly handle it. According to him, the damaged roads are often found on the Pantura landline.
"We can not fix it frontally because it will make a traffic congestion, so we gradually fix it," he said.
The damage in Pantura, Arie said, is caused by the number of vehicles with a load exceeding the capacity. Arie said the national road could hold the vehicle load up to 45 tons. He said, if the road users are discipline, then the damage could be reduced.
On D-10, Arie guarantee the road conditions in the Pantura, Central, and South will be better and safer to be used by the riders. He said in addition to improving road conditions, improvements to the road markings were also carried out by the Road Office.
To unravel congestion during homecoming, the Road Office also promotes the beautiful southern lane. According to Arie, the usual riders passing through Nagrek can try to pass Cilacap.
Previously, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said to break down the long traffic jam, Budi said the national public road can be used as an alternative route for travelers who will celebrate the Eid Day. According to him, the path is now feasible and safe to use.
