TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Padang restaurant can be found almost in every corner of Jakarta. Many restaurants have become famous among the community for its traditional Minang cuisines such as its beefy dish rendang and its typical fried chicken Ayam Pop.
Tempo outlined the three most popular Padang restaurant in Jakarta, one of which was recently visited by a celebrity chef from the United States, Anthony Bourdain.
1. Padang Surya Restaurant
International celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain on April 29 visited Jakarta. In his social media Instagram, he uploaded a photo of the waitresses carrying plates of Minang dishes taken by his friend a director of photography Todd Liebier in Padang Surya Restaurant, Bendungan Hilir, South Jakarta.
Padang Surya is indeed a popular restaurant in the capital city for its Ayam Pop. The price for one serving meal per person ranges from Rp50,000.
2. Padang Simay Restaurant
Unlike its simple look, Padang Simay owned by Hj Meyyulis has received various awards, Festival Rendang Padang is among others.
Its favorite dish, rendang, is acknowledged as Rendang Mendunia or the global rendang in 2012. Almost all consumers coming to this restaurant, located in Jalan Palmerah Barat, ordered rendang with rice menu when Tempo visited on Tuesday, May 1.
Padang Simay restaurant is located in Block F Tanah Abang and its branches on Jl. Palmerah Barat Road and Palmerah Utara. The price is also affordable at Rp30,000.
3. Padang Merdeka Restaurant
Located in Kota Tua, Padang Merdeka has become the tourist destination for lunch or dinner with its favorite menu ‘ayam pop’.
For dining at this restaurant, visitors must prepare a rather large budget approximately at Rp80,000-100,000 for a full meal. Other than in Kota Tua, Padang Merdeka restaurant can be found in Pluit, North Jakarta.
