Online Taxi Driver Involved in Robbery Not Registered: Police

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Jakarta Police Sr. Comm. Hengki Haryadi stated LI (27), the suspect in the robbery and sexual assault case in an online taxi Grabcar, was not a registered driver. LI used the app account and car of his stepfather.
“He is not a legitimate driver that is registered in Grab application,” said Hengki in a conference press in Bhayangkara Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Thursday, April 26, adding that LI used his stepfather’s car while the latter rests.
The police arrested two other suspects SN (23) and AP (23) on April 25 at 22:00 local times in North Penjaringan. Meanwhile, LI as the mastermind of the case was shot dead when he tried to hit the officers in Pesing, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, today at 05:00 am.

The police call on all users of online taxi application to check the detail of the driver’s name and the car’s plate number listed in the application and compared it to one that comes to pick up.
“And stay alert to the destination route and whether there is another person in the car besides the driver or not,” Hengki asserted.
Managing Director Grab Indonesia Ridzki Kramadibrata explained the passenger could directly report the Grab's consumer service if they have an unpleasant experience during the ride. “Our customer service team is ready to serve every question and complaint in 24 hours,” he said.
