TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Celebrating World Earth Day on April 22 each year, it is important to realize and raise awareness of the surrounding environment.

Start from the small habits that you may think trivial, but it can be to have a bad impact for the Earth. Check out the five lists below.

1. A Long morning bath

It's very nice when standing under the shower and enjoying the bath time. However, unfortunately, you have to start rethinking this morning habit.

With the issue of the water crisis that the world is facing, it is very bad if you are wasting water. As a start, you can arrange the water usage as needed.

2. Throwing away food waste

Before you throw away food waste, such as banana peels, for example, think about taking advantage of things that can be recycled. You can use banana peel to make compost, for example. That way, you can help to reduce 31 percent of the world's remaining food, according to a report published by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

3. Using private vehicles to work

If you can, try to use public transportation. Or you can make an appointment with a co-worker in the direction of your home. The more people use private vehicles, the more smoke the vehicles produce. Remember, Earth's ozone layer is getting thinner.

4. Leaving the lights on

Do not forget to turn off all the lights before leaving home. Waste of energy is a thing to be avoided for the sake of energy saving on Earth. Imagine, if more and more people are accustomed to doing this. Waste of energy on Earth will increase.

5. Leaving phone charger plugged in

It may seem trivial to let your phone charger plugged into the wall outlet.

However, do you realize that the behavior is included in the waste of energy? This is because the power supply will continue to flow unless you disconnect the charger. So, on this Earth Day, make it a habit to unplug the charger when it is done.
