20,000 Tons of Buffalo Meat From India Ready to Enter Market

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Trade confirmed that the imported buffalo meat from India will be ready to be sold in the market with a price of IDR 80,000 per kilogram prior to the fasting month Ramadan and Ied al-Fitr.
Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita stated that 8,000 tons out of 20.000 tons of buffalo meat are currently being unloaded at the port. Meanwhile, in the near future, the ministry is eyeing to import another 20,000 to 30,000 tons of buffalo meat.
"We have imported 20,000 tons of buffalo meat and later we will be importing 20,000 to 30,000 tons more from India," said Enggartiasto on Friday, April 20, 2018.
Enggartiasto stated that importer should sell the meat at the set price of IDR 80,000 per kilogram based on the meeting with stakeholders last month. Enggartiasto warned that the government will revoke the business permit to those importers selling the meat above the set price.
