TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has taken out 14 projects from the National Strategic Project (PSN) list. The decision was made because it would be impossible to start the projects'construction by the 3rd quarter of 2019.
Wahyu Utomo, deputy for Infrastructure and Area Development Acceleration at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, said the projects are still included in the Mid-term National Development Plan for the period of 2015-2019.
"Although these projects are no longer listed as PSN, the government is still committed to finish them," Wahyu said on Thursday, April 19, 2018.
Wahyu denied reports that the cancellation of the 14 projects was due to the government’s refusal to be tangled in debts. "That's not true, we have huge funding from the private sector," Wahyu said
The 14 projects that got felisted include the Waru-Wonokromo-Tanjung Perak toll road construction, the Sukabumi-Ciranjang-Padalarang toll road, and the east-west corridor of the Jakarta mass rapid transit (MRT) project.
For the special economic zone project in Merauke, Papua, Wahyu said it needs further studies as there are issues related to land acquisition.
"Of course, these projects may be re-included in the list," Wahyu said.
