Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry Issue Travel Warning to Syria

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the air strikes launched by the United States and its allies against Syria on Friday, April 13, 2018, the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry has issued a ban, forbidding Indonesian from traveling to the country.

"The Foreign Affairs Ministry is warning all Indonesian not to travel to Syria until safety conditions improved. For Indonesian currently in Syria, please report to and always remain in contact with the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus through the Embassy hotline +963 954444810 and  +963 93721018," wrote an announcement issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

The announcement also mentioned that Indonesian wishing to be informed about the latest development of security conditions in Damascus and the surrounding area can gather information by observing the Safe Travel mobile app, which is available for Android and iOS.

United States President Donald Trump has decided to launch a military aggression to Syria on Friday, April 13, 2018, as a response to a chemical weapon attack in Douma, Syria on April 7, 2018, which killed at least 60 civilians. The attack has the risk to make the Syrian civil more to get more complicated and might trigger confrontations from Russia and Iran, which armies are deployed in Syria to help President Bashar al-Assad.
