TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police voiced its readiness to secure 2018 Asian Games by preparing special security operations to keep the event safe and free from threat.
“The police is ready to secure [Asian Games] by conducting a special operation,” said the police’s spokesman Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto when met at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, Friday, April 13.

Asian Games is a pan-Asian multi-sport event regulated by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) which is held every four years. The 18th games are scheduled to be held on August 18 to September 2 in GBK sports arena, Jakarta and Jakabaring Sports City, Palembang. As many as 15,000 athletes from 45 countries in Asia will compete in 42 sports.
Setyo further explained Indonesia has hosted Asian Games in 1962 for the first and last time. “Perhaps we cannot wait another 56 years to be the host,” he said.
The 2018 Asian Games Organizing Committee (Inasgoc) and Indonesian Police today held a sports event to build the coordination in GBK. National Police Deputy Chief General Commissioner Syafruddin and Inasgoc representatives presented at the event.
