Jokowi Reminds Youths to Gear Up for Industrial Revolution 4.0

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has urged Indonesia’s youngsters not to be too soft and to be adaptable in facing the global development that will be represented in the industrial revolution 4.0.
“As a generation that will lead the nation in the future, you must be resilient and not spoiled, or worse lazy. Forget those things,” said the president in an official school visit from Taruna Nusantara High School at the State Palace today.

Jokowi reminded his guests there were many jobs that could be done autonomously, which accentuated the industrial revolution 4.0 that was marked with artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and Internet of Things, which according to McKinsey’s study was 3,000-times more influential compared to the first industrial revolution.

“We don’t need to fear this, but rather prepare ourselves, study more, try as hard as you can to make use of the opportunities that the revolution brings,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi gave examples of the autonomous technology that was starting to take over in the near future, among them in Dubai, where its government announced it would partially erect new buildings using 3D printing technology to save costs and time in 20 years.
