TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- The Turkish authority is planning to deport approximately 600 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan currently residing in the eastern part of Turkey. The immigrants will be deported back to Kabul within this week.
Afghanistan immigrants have been crossing the Turkish border through Iran following terrorist activities and the country's economic breakdown. The Turkish security forces have transferred the immigrants to the provincial immigration authority office.
The deportation process have recorded a total of 591 immigrants data and have managed to book flights to Kabul to fly them home on Sunday, April 8, 2018, local time.
"Following the completion of deportation process for illegal immigrants in other provinces, the process will be accelerated and carried out within the next few weeks," as quoted by Reuters from the Turkish Home Affairs Ministry on Sunday, April 8, 2018.
The Turkish government decision has raised protests from human rights groups because it will essentially transfer the immigrants to a conflict-ridden country. The deportation is considered to place the immigrants' life at risks.
