Transport Minister: Pelabuhan Ratu To Function Optimally in 2019

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi targets the Pelabuhan Ratu in Sukabumi, West Java, to function optimally in 2019.
"In 2019, I want Pelabuhan Ratu to be vibrant and to function optimally," said Budi Karya Sumadi on Wednesday, April 4.
Pelabuhan Ratu is expected to facilitate the connectivity to Jakarta, for the delivery of crops, mining products, and other items will use the barges from Pelabuhan Ratu.
"All this time, the land shipment costs high and damages the road. If using barge it would be more efficient. Imagine if one barge can carry 100 to 7,500 tons. If using truck, it can only carry 20 tons," he said.
Besides to facilitate the connectivity, Pelabuhan Ratu will also be focused to become a tourism port on weekends. Especially with the tourism site Geopark Ciletuh that can be reached by boat for thirty minutes. It is expected to make Pelabuhan Ratu become vibrant.
Therefore, Budi has asked the Head of the local Department Transportation in cooperation with the Head of the local Tourism to collect the tourism stakeholders to discuss Pelabuhan Ratu.
