Govt Prepares 6 Alternative Airports for IMF-World Bank Meeting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry planned to provide six alternatives airports to accommodate all delegations of 2018 IMF-World Bank annual meetings in Bali.

The ministry's Director General of Air Transportation Agus Santoso assumed Ngurah Rai airport could not accommodate the arrival and departure of 18,000 guests. “So we will provide more airports,” said Agus on Tuesday, April 3.

Agus mentioned the six airports are Blimbingsari (Banyuwangi), Juanda (Surabaya), Adi Soemarmo (Solo), Lombok (Praya), El Tari (Kupang), and Sultan Hasanuddin (Makassar).

Meanwhile, the airport renovation including the extension of the apron and eleven additional parking stands will be accelerated before the meeting day.

Earlier, the airport operator PT AP I have expanded the capacity of Ngurah Rai airport by adding the apron to 64 parking stands from previously 53.

As many as 18,000 delegates of finance minister and bank governor from all over the world will attend the 2018 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings on October 8-14.
