Breaking News: Probosutedjo, Brother of Soeharto, Dies at 87

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The younger brother of the second president of Indonesia Soeharto, Probosutedjo, has passed away in dr Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Monday morning, March 26. “Probosutedjo passed away this morning at 7 am,” said Hariyadi Sukamdi, a chairman of Indonesia Entrepreneur Association when contacted today. Probosutdjo died at 87.
Hariyadi said the deceased now at the funeral home at Jalan Diponegoro No. 20-22 Menteng, Central Jakarta. He claimed to have yet know the reason for the death.
Hariyadi explained the deceased will be buried in his birthland in Yogyakarta. “This afternoon at 4, the late Probosutedjo will be flown to Yogyakarta,” he said.
Probosutedjo was born on May 1, 1930. In his youth, he showed his concern about education and used to be a teacher of a junior high school in SMP Perguruan Kita, Serbelawan, Pematangsiantar, in 1951.
Probosutedjo established a number of educational institutions, including Institut Pertanian Yogyakarta, Akademi Wiraswasta in 1981, and Universitas Mertju Buana in 1985.
Probosutedjo’s experience as a teacher led him to the entrepreneurship field. He collected all his learning material from his teachers and made it to a book which then sold to his students.
